About the Role
This role offers exposure to a broad spectrum of financial and operational activities within a fast-paced international trading desk. It is an excellent opportunity for a qualified accountant to gain hands-on experience and develop finance skills at a physical commodity trade house.
Responsibilities
- Support continuous improvement in month-end reporting by streamlining processes, increasing accuracy, and enhancing the quality and depth of reporting outputs.
- Responsible for a structured rotation across month-end accounting processes to develop commodities accounting knowledge, covering accrual calculations, intercompany reconciliations, management reporting to cocoa origin offices, and certification calculations.
- Assist with the preparation of monthly forward books and the calculation of mark-to-market P&L for new physical trading activity.
- Work with the trade, shipping and origin teams to improve business processes and field their queries.
- Take ownership of monthly cash-flow forecasting.
- Assist in FX exposure management and new system implementation.
- Perform ad hoc cyclical finance activities such as assisting in the implementation of a new trade accounting system.
Requirements
- Must be a qualified accountant.
- Minimum of 3 years of similar experience, ideally within the commodity or similar trading industry.
- Excellent knowledge of Excel is essential.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Analytical thought process.
- Strong team ethic.
- Effective communication skills.
- Ability to prioritize workload.
