About the Role
CityVet South Austin is looking for Veterinary Technicians to join their team. A Veterinary Technician Assistant will be considered with a minimum of 1-year experience. The Veterinary Technician is responsible for maintaining excellent patient care and operational productivity by helping the Veterinarian leverage their time and efforts to meet the needs of their clients and patients.
Responsibilities
- Assist Veterinarians with patient preparation for surgery, including anesthesia administration, X-rays, and lab specimen collection.
- Monitor patients post-operatively and restrain animals during examinations.
- Obtain and test stool, blood, and other samples for laboratory analysis.
- Administer accurate dosages of prescribed medications, anesthesia, and vaccines.
- Communicate medical information to clients and provide instructions for animal care according to the veterinarian's plan.
- Assist the Client Service Specialist team as needed.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED.
- At least 18 years of age at the time of hire.
- At least 1 year of veterinary industry experience.
- Ability to properly and safely restrain animals.
- Knowledge of veterinary medical terminology and medications.
- Ability to lift 50 lbs to waist height.
- Frequent standing, bending, walking, lifting, carrying, and reaching.
- Strong organizational skills.
- Excellent communication and listening skills.
