About the Role
This co-op position offers the opportunity to support Manufacturing Engineering in troubleshooting and resolving manufacturing issues, creating and maintaining documentation, and contributing to continuous improvement initiatives within a defense and military sector context.
Responsibilities
- Support Manufacturing Engineering in troubleshooting and resolving mechanical, electro-mechanical and electro optical manufacturing issues.
- Create and maintain documentation to support manufacturing changes, including assembly procedures, Work Instructions and Manufacturing Execution System (MES) authoring.
- Attend and provide responses to daily cell standup meetings.
- Maintain and improve manufacturing processes and procedures for WESCAM products, including control plans, tooling and test procedures.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives and projects.
- Develop and maintain preventative maintenance documentation for manufacturing, assembly and/or testing equipment.
- Design of jigs and fixtures for new processes.
- Operate and maintain 3D printing systems.
- Track projects actions and status.
- Perform time studies.
- Attend project meetings and record action items.
- Develop dashboards and data visualizations using SharePoint and PowerBI.
- Management of small-scale projects.
Requirements
- Able to read and understand Mechanical drawings and Electrical schematics.
- Experience using SolidWorks, Composer and AutoCAD is an asset.
- Programming using C#, Matlab, Labview and/or Windows Presentation Foundation is an asset.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Comfortable working in a pressured and highly dynamic environment.
- Organized, efficient, and able to multi-task to meet tight deadlines.
- Punctual, reliable, and follows up on action items.
- Works well as part of a team.
- Good listener and quick learner.
- Problem solving skills.
- Experience leading small teams or groups.
- Advanced knowledge of MS Office applications.
- Strong programming skills in C#, Labview, and/or Matlab.
- Familiarity with Solidworks, or other 3D cad systems.
- Familiarity with Microsoft Power Apps and Sharepoint is an asset.
