About the Role
D&AD seeks a Head of Content and Social to leverage its extensive archive of creative industry content. This role involves setting content and social strategy while also being hands-on in content creation. The successful candidate will lead a team to build a year-round content engine, transforming access to creative leaders and industry insights into compelling content formats.
Responsibilities
- Develop and execute content and social strategies across D&AD Awards, Festival, New Blood, D&AD Learn/Masterclasses, and Shift.
- Define cultural relevance and storytelling, identifying key industry conversations and moments to engage with.
- Manage and grow content channels including LinkedIn, Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, D&AD website, and email newsletter.
- Develop repeatable social-first formats for platforms like TikTok, Reels, Shorts, and YouTube, focusing on pacing, hooks, and storytelling.
- Ensure content is structured for discoverability in search and AI citation, optimizing for views and traffic.
- Oversee production, ensuring creative standards and thoughtfully embedding AI into workflows.
- Act as the final quality gate for all content, ensuring it meets D&AD's standards.
- Direct video, audio, and photography output, briefing the team and contributing hands-on when needed.
- Build a repurposing engine to maximize assets from single shoots.
- Manage the camera, edit, audio, and long-form content production.
- Oversee editorial content, including interviews, case studies, and trend pieces.
- Collaborate with Marketing and PR to align content with brand objectives and create thought leadership pieces.
- Develop sales enablement materials such as proof points, case studies, and sizzles.
- Define the role and strategy for social platforms like LinkedIn, Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, Reddit, and Pinterest.
- Set the brand voice and tone for social media copy and engagement.
- Foster community by identifying and building relationships with creators, students, studios, and members.
- Monitor industry conversations and social media activity to inform content strategy.
- Drive audience growth, engagement quality, and conversion rates across social channels.
- Nurture and lead the Senior Editor, Social Media Manager, and Content Editor & Producer.
- Define key performance indicators, analyze performance data, and use insights to refine content strategy.
Requirements
- Demonstrable experience in content marketing, editorial, and leadership roles with a proven track record of delivering successful strategies.
- Strong strategic mindset, with the ability to develop and execute content initiatives that drive measurable business impact.
- Experience and confidence using the core publishing and content-production stack, including Adobe Creative Cloud, video editing in Premiere Pro or equivalent, image optimization, content tagging, metadata, alt text, accessibility, responsive layouts, and copy editing tools.
- Exceptional editing and storytelling skills, with the ability to maintain and elevate a strong brand voice.
- Deep understanding of social platforms, audience engagement strategies, and emerging trends.
- Effective cross-functional skills, with the ability to align stakeholders, influence across teams, and drive initiatives across the business.
- Data-driven and analytical, with experience using analytics tools to measure performance and derive insights.
- Solid understanding of SEO/AEO principles.
- Familiarity with AI tools and an advocate for applying them thoughtfully across content and editorial workflows.
- Highly organized and proactive, with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Ability to work well across a marketing team, translating brand or campaign objectives into effective content.
- Comfortable working in a lean not-for-profit environment with finite budgets.
- Experience getting good work out of a small team and enjoying people development.
- Ability to identify real cultural moments from passing formats.
- Must provide appropriate documentation to prove eligibility to work in the UK.
