About the Role

The Tenant Services Coordinator at Hillside Senior Apartments provides light-touch social services to tenants, focusing on case management and support for previously homeless seniors referred from NYC shelters. The role involves coordinating daily services, developing tenant-centered support plans, and assisting tenants with housing subsidies and benefits.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate day-to-day on-site services for tenants, ensuring alignment with RiseBoro’s mission.
  • Complete needs assessments and develop tenant-centered support plans, periodically reviewing and documenting progress.
  • Provide ongoing case management, assistance, and advocacy, including information and referrals to community services.
  • Offer supportive counseling and crisis intervention services.
  • Ensure tenants maintain housing subsidies and necessary benefits.
  • Assist tenants in identifying and applying for additional benefits, providing advocacy as needed.
  • Facilitate tenant engagement through educational workshops and social activities.
  • Provide translation during workshop presentations.
  • Educate residents on available on-site services and community resources.
  • Prepare and maintain up-to-date records and resident files, including personal information, eligibility, services provided, and correspondence.
  • Conduct monitoring services through home visits, telephone calls, and periodic inspections with property management.
  • Collaborate with community partners to ensure residents can age in place, coordinating home care services and discharge planning.
  • Communicate with property management and maintenance staff regarding resident issues and incidents.
  • Escort tenants to appointments when appropriate and needed.
  • Perform other related duties as required by the Supervisor.

Requirements

  • Experience in a social services setting preferred.
  • Experience in customer or client services required.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills required.
  • Bilingual English/Cantonese or Mandarin speaker required.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to advocate.
  • Ability to be a team player and work with a diverse population.
  • Ability to problem-solve and work with a high level of autonomy.
  • Excellent organizational skills and time management abilities.
  • Flexibility and adaptability required.
