About the Role
Johnson Controls Inc. is seeking skilled HVAC Mechanics to support its fast-growing HVAC business in North America. This role offers the opportunity to work with advanced heavy commercial and cutting-edge industrial equipment within a collaborative and results-oriented team environment.
Responsibilities
- Perform maintenance, repair, and replacement services on commercial heating and cooling systems.
- Partner with Journeymen in the repair of centrifugal, steam turbines, and open-drive screw chillers.
- Provide customers with the highest level of service to solve facility inefficiencies and resolve service-related items.
- Act as a trusted advisor to customers, providing solutions and outcomes during commissioning and aftermarket service.
- Recommend and implement solutions to ensure facility efficiency, including identifying upselling opportunities.
- Provide quotes to support recommendations and solutions.
- Troubleshoot, repair, and perform aftermarket services for the HVAC business.
- Perform mechanical shaft alignment using dial indicators on pumps, fans, and compressors.
- Use vibration equipment to troubleshoot drivelines.
Requirements
- Must be a member or willing to join the United Association of Journeymen and Apprentices of the Plumbing and Pipe Fitting Industry of the United States and Canada, AFL-CIO.
- Minimum of three (3) years of commercial and/or industrial mechanical troubleshooting experience in the HVAC industry, including rooftop units, pumps, fans, towers, boilers, chillers, compressors, and plumbing.
- Able to use vibration equipment to troubleshoot drivelines.
- Travel may be required 10% to 20% to support branch customer activities, troubleshooting, installation, and repair.
- Required to pass a knowledge examination to assess proficiencies.
- Must be able to write and communicate to the customer the problem, cause, and corrective actions.
- Able to provide quotes to customers and participate in JCI’s Service Plus Rewards program.
- Self-starter with a passion/desire to learn and apply on the job.
- Prioritize safety in all forms.
- Possess a Universal EPA refrigerants license, applicable state or local licensing, and a valid driver's license.
- This is a Bargaining Unit Position.

Salary/Compensations
- $39.15 hourly rate determined by the CBA/rate sheet.
