About the Role

Leads and oversees the Global Business Travel Program & Canada/ USA staff Commercial Cards team, ensuring business strategies, plans, and initiatives are executed and delivered in compliance with governing regulations, internal policies, and procedures.

Responsibilities

  • Leads and drives a customer-focused culture throughout their team to deepen client relationships and leverage broader Bank relationships, systems, and knowledge.
  • Manages the success of the global Business Travel and Canada & USA staff Commercial Cards programs by ensuring specific individual goals, plans & initiatives are executed/delivered in support of business strategies and objectives.
  • Develops and executes the global business travel strategy, aligning the travel program with organizational objectives, employee experience, cost management, risk, and operational efficiency.
  • Serves as the point of escalation for business travel and commercial card issues, providing recommendations and solutions.
  • Collaborates with partners including procurement, finance, risk, HR, technology, legal, and key stakeholders to ensure programs meet enterprise requirements and deliver a consistent experience.
  • Maintains appropriate commercial card governance, controls, and compliance standards.
  • Brings awareness to out-of-policy use of business travel platforms and commercial card use, identifying misuse, investigating, and escalating where required.
  • Understands how the Bank’s risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day-to-day activities and decisions.
  • Creates an environment where the team pursues effective and efficient operations in accordance with Scotiabank’s Values, Code of Conduct, and Global Sales Principles, ensuring adequacy, adherence, and effectiveness of day-to-day business controls.
  • Builds a high-performance environment and implements a people strategy that attracts, retains, develops, and motivates the team by fostering an inclusive work environment, using a coaching mindset, communicating vision/values/business strategy, and managing succession and development planning.

Requirements

  • University degree or college diploma in Administration/Travel with a minimum of 5 years of experience.
  • Detailed knowledge of the travel industry.
  • Thorough knowledge of contract negotiation and management.
  • Proven analytical abilities.
  • Working knowledge of Bank accounting and controls.
  • Working knowledge of the Bank’s organizational structure.
  • Thorough knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite applications.

Skills

  • Spanish language is considered an asset.
