About the Role
The Fine Dining Host/Hostess is responsible for providing professional, friendly, and courteous service to every guest while taking reservations, greeting, seating, and handling guest inquiries. This role requires the ability to interact with the public, speak English clearly, retain details, and involves physical exertion.
Responsibilities
- Report to work on time, well-groomed in full uniform with badge.
- Provide prompt, friendly, and courteous service to all guests, co-workers, and management.
- Greet guests within ten (10) seconds of arrival and inquire about reservations.
- Be knowledgeable of American Service standards and proper wine service etiquette.
- Maintain awareness of dining room activities and proactively assist guests.
- Understand and support fine dining philosophies and goals.
- Perform duties assigned by management.
- Assist other employees when required.
- Be familiar with check and cashiering procedures.
- Handle guest inquiries by knowing Seneca Niagara Casino’s history, property map, and facility locations/hours.
- Answer telephone calls according to the host/hostess manual.
- Review server stations and shifts at the start of the work shift.
- Maintain full knowledge of the menu, wine lists, and daily features.
- Monitor service and performance of each server.
- Assist Fine Dining Assistant Waiter/Waitress with table preparation.
- Complete designated opening and closing side work daily.
- Maintain an understanding of information security policies and procedures.
- Provide exceptional customer service and communicate in a pleasant, friendly, and professional manner.
- Maintain a professional work environment.
- Meet attendance guidelines and adhere to company policies.
- Complete all required SGC Training programs within nine (9) months.
- Attend all necessary meetings.
- Review log book upon start of shift for special instructions.
- Ensure menus and wine lists are correct, presentable, and sufficient.
- Maintain a neat and organized work station.
- Seat guests efficiently according to party size and section rotation.
- Remove extra settings and handle tableware according to the host manual.
- Assist guests with coats and chairs upon departure, thank them, and invite them to return.
Requirements
- Must remain calm and professional in a fast-paced environment.
- Must have an outgoing, friendly personality and a cheerful accommodating disposition.
- Be organized and utilize time well.
- Must be a Team Player.
- Must be 18 years of age or older.
- Ability to write routine correspondence.
- Ability to speak effectively and interact well with guests and employees.
- Must have the ability to resolve problems/conflicts in a diplomatic and tactful manner.
- Must be able to stand, walk, and move through all areas of the dining room for a lengthy period.
- Must be able to assist with special needs of customers.
- Must maintain physical stamina and proper mental attitude to work under pressure.
- Must be able to work in an environment where smoking is permitted.
