About the Role
We are looking for a hands-on Technician Supervisor to keep our workshop running smoothly and our customers on the road. This role offers the opportunity to lead an expert team and take the next step in your career.
Responsibilities
- Supervise and support a team of HGV Technicians within the workshop.
- Allocate and prioritise work to ensure jobs are completed efficiently and on time.
- Oversee servicing, maintenance, inspections and repairs of HGVs and commercial vehicles.
- Ensure all work is completed to manufacturer and company standards.
- Maintain high standards of health & safety and workshop housekeeping.
- Carry out quality checks and ensure vehicles are safe and roadworthy before release.
- Diagnose and assist with complex technical issues when required.
- Monitor workshop productivity, efficiency and job progress.
- Liaise with service advisors, transport operators, customers and other departments.
- Support technician training, development and performance.
- Ensure all relevant paperwork, job cards and maintenance records are completed accurately.
- Promote a positive, professional and safety-focused workshop environment.
- Work closely with the team to create high levels of morale and focus.
- Ensure work is completed in a timely manner and with excellence in quality.
- Effectively communicate with the Workshop Controller and CSR’s to ensure technicians have valid job specifications and time budget.
- Manage customer expectations at all stages of the Genuine Volvo Service process.
- Maximize shift performance through effective problem solving, coaching & development.
Requirements
- Qualified to NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) in Heavy Vehicle Maintenance & Repair.
- Workshop experience, ideally in trucks/buses, with some supervisory know-how.
- A strong communicator who can get the best out of a team.
- Organised, proactive, and customer-focused.
- Full UK driving licence.
- Ability to manage and motivate a team of technicians in their daily activities.
- Ability to effectively communicate at all levels both written and verbally.
- Ability to work in an organised & methodical manner ensuring that all daily tasks are completed.
- Ability to delegate work to the appropriate personnel.
- Ability to operate GDS and Impact systems, specific to the GVS process stages.
- Basic knowledge of Microsoft Outlook.
