About the Role
Seeking an Associate to join the Financial Services Group within the Private Capital team, focusing on direct investments in North America. You will evaluate investment opportunities, execute transactions, conduct sector research, and support portfolio company management.
Responsibilities
- Evaluate new investments to determine attractive opportunities.
- Conduct industry and company research for investment analysis.
- Manage third-party advisors for investment analysis.
- Build sophisticated financial models for investment analysis.
- Arrange debt financing for investments.
- Review legal documents for investments.
- Analyze due diligence materials.
- Prepare internal support materials and recommendations for the Investment Committee.
- Support value creation initiatives in portfolio companies.
- Develop and refresh sub-sector investment theses through deep dives and market mapping.
- Conduct primary research, target screening, and valuation benchmarking.
- Identify key diligence themes.
- Assist in building and maintaining relationships with fund partners.
Requirements
- 2-3 years related work experience from a leading investment bank or consulting firm.
- Undergraduate degree with a focus on business, finance, accounting, or investment analysis, or equivalent experience.
- Experience in developing financial models (LBO, DCF, etc.) from the ground up.
- Experience evaluating companies, transactions, or investment themes in Financial Services is considered an asset.
- Very strong analytical and quantitative skills.
- Ability to perform in-depth, creative, critical analysis.
- Comfort using data and AI-enabled tools to support research, analysis, diligence, and portfolio company work.
- Experience in the investment process, including conducting due diligence, arranging debt financing, and negotiating documentation.
- Excellent communication skills, both oral and written, with solid presentation skills.
- Collaborative teammate with strong interpersonal skills.
- Self-motivated with unquestioned personal and professional integrity.
- Ability to meet tight timelines and operate in a highly complex and demanding work environment.
- Ability and willingness to travel.
- Legally entitled to work in the country where the role is located.
