About the Role

Shine is seeking a FinOps Engineer to establish cost visibility, automate cost management, and provide data-driven insights for lifecycle decisions across their multi-cloud, SaaS, and on-premises infrastructure. This senior individual contributor role is crucial for optimizing technology spend and ensuring financial accountability within the organization.

Responsibilities

Own cost visibility across cloud, SaaS, and on-premises environments.
Build and maintain the attribution layer, including tagging standards and allocation rules as code.
Manage the SaaS portfolio, tracking tools, owners, contracts, and costs.
Extend visibility to the on-premises estate, mapping contracts, licenses, and capacity.
Produce keep/move/end cost analysis for product lifecycle decisions.
Automate reporting and anomaly detection using AI-assisted tooling.
Prepare the commitment strategy, including unit economics and hosting strategy analysis.
Collaborate with Finance on cost-per-unit-of-delivery measures and cost presentations.
Investigate specific cost questions and automate recurring answers.

Requirements

5+ years in FinOps, cloud cost engineering, or infrastructure engineering with substantial cost ownership.
Hands-on cloud fluency on AWS, GCP, or Azure, with working knowledge of others' billing and commitment models.
Engineering-grade automation skills, including experience with Terraform.
Practical use of AI tooling for analysis, report generation, and investigation.
Experience making cost legible to non-specialists through showback/chargeback and presentations.
Comfort with incomplete data and inherited mess, building defensible pictures from partial sources.
Delivery attitude, shipping working versions and improving them.
Experience supporting migration or consolidation programs with cost analysis.
Familiarity with FinOps Foundation certification or equivalent practice.
Experience in regulated industries (fintech, accounting, banking).
Experience in a post-acquisition environment managing multiple estates.
