About the Role

An excellent opportunity has arisen to join Viasat’s Building services team, London, becoming an integral part of supporting the needs of a global satellite company. You will be customer focused and able to provide a first class service in this diverse and exciting role.

Responsibilities

  • Provide mechanical engineering support and knowledge.
  • Complete preventative maintenance to deadlines.
  • Maintain paperwork supporting PPM activities.
  • Be involved in the management of contractors.
  • Respond to reactive and emergency faults and conduct reactive maintenance work to ensure compliance with SLAs.
  • Complete daily plant/building inspections.
  • Provide operational support to the business via helpdesk requests.
  • Complete site training and keep up to date with the latest operational procedures.
  • Carry out routine maintenance on equipment, including fault finding, problem solving, and repairs to minimize downtime.
  • Complete all maintenance logs, schedules, etc. accurately and timely to comply with Health and Safety legislation, company, insurance, and ISO requirements.
  • Engage with external vendors as required and accompany/assist them while on site.
  • Ensure adequate supplies of spares on site for commonly used and critical spare parts and log these in a stock sheet.
  • Maintain a service record of all planned maintenance work undertaken.
  • Complete assigned building maintenance and helpdesk tasks while actively interacting with end users and the building services manager within the required SLA.
  • Carry out daily building checks, ensuring a proactive approach to the upkeep of the building.
  • Inspect all facilities to ensure good working order and state of repair.
  • Perform health & safety checks where necessary.
  • Report problems and/or unsafe practices to the building services manager (BSM) and complete health and safety paperwork, including recommendations for improvements.
  • Participate in a 24/7 on-call rota (on-call rates apply).
  • Carry out all repairs related to building and utilities, planned and executed to minimize risk or inconvenience to others.
  • Follow up on action points agreed by BSM and maintain a log, such as daily checks.
  • Perform minor troubleshooting & maintenance for office equipment if required.
  • Review processes, procedures, systems, paperwork, etc. in own area, and make suggestions for improvement.
  • Communicate process changes to relevant parties for follow-up, such as training.
  • Ensure full and timely reporting of all major breakdowns, significant problems, repair requirements, delays, or machine downtime to relevant personnel (BSM/FM).
  • Liaise with customers and suppliers as necessary to clarify technical details and overcome problems.
  • Assist the building services team in any role required by the business.

Requirements

  • Commercial PPM & Reactive maintenance in line with SLAs.
  • Knowledge of FCU's, AHU's, BMS head end controls, HVAC plant, Water treatment, First Line VRV and heat pump response, calorifiers, humidifiers.
  • Experience with planned & reactive maintenance/repairs on mechanical or plumbing systems.
  • Experience with AC units - AHU/FCU servicing.
  • Experience with air ventilation systems, ensuring filters, belts, condensate pumps, and dampers are in good condition.
  • Experience with mechanical pipework repairs, plumbing of taps, sinks, toilets/flushers.
  • Experience with plant maintenance/providing assistance to other engineers on site.
  • Experience with fault finding/remedial works.
  • Commercial maintenance experience with a client-facing persona and demonstrable building services experience.
  • IT Literate (Excel, Word, Outlook, CAFM, BMS).
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills.
  • Demonstrate good planning, organising, and prioritising skills.
  • Ability to show examples of using initiative and judgement to resolve problems.
  • Experience with business-critical plant.
