About the Role
The Engineer will support Engineering Planning to enhance distribution and transmission systems, ensuring safe and reliable power delivery. This role involves identifying clean energy investments, participating in load forecasting and contingency analysis, and developing solutions like new substations and transmission projects.
Responsibilities
- Conduct annual load forecasting, contingency analysis, and NWA evaluations to identify system needs.
- Collaborate with the Utility of the Future team to support NY/NJ clean energy goals and long-term corporate strategies.
- Identify and justify capital projects for the ten-year electric delivery system plan.
- Develop conceptual designs and documentation for T&D system improvements.
- Perform distribution system modeling and analysis.
- Provide operational support such as fuse coordination and voltage issue investigations.
- Review interconnection studies, develop estimates, attend DER meetings, and support DER planning.
- Conduct steady-state power flow, voltage stability, and transfer analyses.
- Participate in transmission system planning studies and regional planning efforts.
- Prepare engineering procedure guides, reports, and presentations.
Requirements
- Must be well organized, detail-oriented and flexible to handle multiple assignments and deadlines.
- Capable of independent work which includes the ability to understand planning concepts and electric system analysis.
- Must possess excellent oral and written communication skills, and have the ability to effectively interact with customers, support staff, and various levels of management.
- Must have strong analytical, technical and interpersonal skills.
- Must have demonstrated leadership skills and the ability to work on teams and cross-functional projects.
- Minimum of 3-5 years of engineering work experience with electric power systems; familiarity with system planning or engineering design is preferred.
- Driver's License Required
- The selected candidate will be assigned a System Emergency Assignment and will be expected to work non-business hours during emergencies.
- Must be able and willing to travel within Company service territory, as needed.
- Must be able to safely perform witness tests at DER field sites.
