About the Role

The Quality, Safety and Patient/Family Experience portfolio at CAMH is seeking a Quality and Patient Safety Specialist to provide leadership in advancing the safety culture and supporting the organization-wide patient safety program.

Responsibilities

  • Facilitate and coordinate patient safety and quality initiatives, corporate quality improvement projects, and strategic priorities.
  • Support the development of quality indicators and standards to assess care quality.
  • Oversee administration of the CAMH incident reporting system (RL Datix).
  • Utilize clinical knowledge to identify patient safety themes and trends through incident report analysis.
  • Follow-up on patient safety events and Good Catch/Near Misses, and facilitate incident analysis.
  • Collaborate with clinical teams to proactively identify patient safety and quality priorities and facilitate problem-solving.
  • Implement tools and methods that advance safety and quality using clinical competencies and frameworks (e.g., Root Cause Analysis, Failure Modes and Effects Analysis, Lean).
  • Support and encourage incident reporting, focusing on ensuring a ‘Just Culture’ framework.
  • Serve as a quality and patient safety resource to all programs, services, and departments.
  • Develop curriculum, provide education, and deliver training to staff on quality improvement and patient safety methodologies.
  • Collaborate with healthcare teams to implement and support quality/patient safety improvement initiatives.

Requirements

  • Regulated health professional in good standing.
  • Master’s degree in a health-related discipline, healthcare administration, public health, or a related field.
  • 3-5 years’ experience in healthcare, with a focus on quality improvement, patient safety, or a related area.
  • Experience with RLDatix © software preferred.
  • Experience in a mental health and addictions setting may be an asset.
  • Experience in data analysis, project management, facilitation, and quality improvement initiatives.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Knowledge of healthcare quality improvement methodologies and best practices.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with healthcare teams and stakeholders.
  • Attention to detail and a commitment to patient safety and quality care.

  • $85,682.95 – $107,103.68 per year (hiring range)
  • $85,682.95 – $128,524.42 per year (full pay range)
