About the Role
The Perelman Performing Arts Center (PAC NYC) is seeking a full-time Production Manager to assist the Director of Production in supervising various technical departments and managing the planning, budgeting, and implementation of all technical requirements for productions. This role involves leading production staff, coordinating with internal departments and external contractors, and ensuring the smooth execution of all PAC-produced projects, presentations, rentals, and special events. The ideal candidate will be a strategic thinker with a passion for advancing inclusive, anti-racist goals and experience supporting a flexible facility.
Responsibilities
- Lead, plan, develop, and implement all aspects of the production process as part of the Production Management team.
- Lead staff for all programming and events in a thoughtful, steady, and collaborative manner, ensuring safety, efficiency, and adherence to schedule and budget.
- Execute, supervise, manage, and/or assign all production work in collaboration with the Director of Production.
- Assist in scheduling and logistics for spaces throughout The PAC with the production and artistic team.
- Assist the Director of Production in the creation and development of production budgets and schedules for all PAC-presented and produced performances, events, and programs.
- Advance productions and review contracts and riders to ensure efficient use of resources.
- Work with organizations renting PAC to ensure rental events are well supported.
- Secure and plan all production-related transportation and load-in logistics.
- Travel to other venues to facilitate the smooth transfer of shows to The PAC when required.
- Collaborate with The PAC artistic team and external artists, designers, and producers to realize creative work for The PAC’s unique spaces.
- Assist the Director of Production in the annual institutional and production budgeting process and reforecasting.
- Maintain and continually update standards, procedures, and practices.
- Foster a safe, respectful, supportive work environment that embodies equity and inclusion.
- Foster the development and goodwill of The PAC productions through outreach and cultivating relationships with industry leaders, vendors, and producers.
- Represent The PAC at conferences and external events when required.
Requirements
- At least 5-7 years of experience in production.
- Experience in the management of union personnel.
- Professional experience in New York City and/or collaboration with New York City institutions.
- Experience creating operating paradigms, systems, processes, and procedures for a new facility, organization, or performance space.
- Proven leadership skills with the ability to build, lead, and manage a team.
- Analytic and empathetic problem-solving, conflict resolution, negotiation, and mediation skills.
- Excellent communication and intermediary skills in working with diverse internal and external constituencies.
- A commitment to anti-racism, inclusion, equity, and accessibility.
- Ability to read and interpret light plots, stage plans, and related technical documents.
- Demonstrated ability to conceive, strategize, manage, and prioritize multiple projects with accuracy and attention to detail.
- Excellent budgeting and scheduling skills.
- Able to work nights and weekends in support of performance and event schedules.
- In-depth, hands-on experience and knowledge of modern stage technology and procedures including rigging, sound, recording, video, lighting, stage automation systems, video streaming and broadcasting standards and equipment.
- Thorough working knowledge of multiple scales and forms of performance: including opera, theater, dance, music, and special events.
- Knowledge of theatrical and OSHA safety regulations and practices.
- Proficiency with MS Office Suite, Dropbox, Production and Venue Management Software, Payroll Software, Vectorworks, and AutoCAD.
