About the Role
This is an early-career production role within the Tech team, offering a six-month fellowship to learn the operations of a digital newsroom. Fellows will produce work and gain experience in packaging and promoting journalism, supporting reporters and editors, and understanding the workflow from assignment to publication.
Responsibilities
- Set up and format stories in Business Insider’s content-management system, ensuring accuracy of headlines, links, images, captions, and metadata.
- Assist with the production of the VC newsletter, including building editions, testing links, and maintaining newsletter calendars.
- Maintain updates to editorial lists and other recurring formats.
- Support the tech team’s daily administrative and production needs.
- Help prepare stories for publication by gathering assets, checking formatting, and flagging errors or missing elements.
- Learn and follow Business Insider’s editorial, style, legal, and production standards.
- Shadow reporters and editors to learn how a digital newsroom develops, edits, publishes, and promotes journalism.
Requirements
- Highly organized, detail-oriented, and dependable.
- Strong interest in technology, business, media, or journalism.
- Ability to manage multiple assignments, prioritize effectively, and meet deadlines.
- Strong written communication and proofreading skills.
- Comfortable and flexible with learning new digital tools and systems.
