About the Role
Cozzini Bros. is seeking an experienced Area Manager to oversee all aspects of operations in their appointed area, including route delivery, new business generation, and administration. This role offers the opportunity to develop new skills, work on projects, and contribute to the company's growth.
Responsibilities
- Recruit and hire high-quality personnel.
- Provide employees with adequate training and clear job requirements.
- Coach, motivate, and evaluate all personnel regularly.
- Ride routes with drivers to evaluate performance and provide coaching.
- Make calls with new business personnel to evaluate performance and provide coaching.
- Set and maintain proper grooming and appearance standards for employees.
- Maintain records of employee attendance and schedule vacations to ensure continuous operation.
- Ensure all employees work in compliance with Company policies and procedures.
- Establish and maintain customer goodwill by providing high-quality products and 100% deliveries.
- Handle service problems expediently, focusing on customer and Cozzini interests.
- Investigate customer service cancellations to determine reasons and potential solutions.
- Maintain an efficient route structure, including periodic reviews for optimization.
- Oversee inventory exchanges with the sharpening center.
- Oversee the proper appearance, maintenance, and care of all Company vehicles.
- Ensure drivers adhere to safety procedures.
- Oversee the upkeep, maintenance, and regular cleaning of the facility.
- Oversee the timely, efficient, and cost-effective interface with the sharpening center.
- Maintain an adequate and accurate inventory of rental and sales equipment.
- Interface with headquarters personnel to proactively and cost-effectively replenish inventory.
- Provide route relief for drivers on vacation or out of work.
- Achieve assigned area sales goals.
- Develop a specific plan to achieve sales goals and establish a reporting system.
- Sell additional business in existing accounts.
- Develop a system to generate and process sales leads.
- Oversee the implementation of price increases.
- Monitor competitive activity and inform the Regional General Manager.
- Debrief with drivers and ensure Company check-out procedures are followed.
- Oversee adherence to Company cash collection and deposit procedures.
- Ensure route and new business paperwork is completed accurately and on time.
- Ensure all accidents and injuries are reported promptly.
- Assist with accounts receivable collection as requested.
- Oversee operational expenses to ensure fiscal prudence.
- Assist with overall Company improvement activities.
Requirements
- Have a valid driver’s license.
- Pass a pre-employment drug and background test.
- Meet pre-employment and periodic MVR requirements.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. repetitively, reach, twist, turn, bend, climb and pull.
- Will at times require overnight travel.
- Strong oral, written and listening communication skills.
- Commitment to communicate actively with subordinates, peers and headquarters personnel.
- Ability to develop the skills and competencies of subordinates through training, development and motivational activities.
