About the Role
The Forklift Operator is responsible for the safe and timely loading and unloading of materials, interpreting customer orders, and recording shipping data. This role also involves basic equipment troubleshooting and maintenance, and active participation in plant safety and continuous improvement initiatives.
Responsibilities
- Adhere to all safety and housekeeping requirements within a plant warehouse setting.
- Safely operate a forklift for loading/unloading finished product and raw materials.
- Interpret customer orders to pull, stage, load, and check materials for accurate and timely shipment.
- Record shipping data and other results as required.
- Troubleshoot and apply basic maintenance skills to service equipment.
- Take an active role in plant safety and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Adapt to scheduling requirements, including shiftwork, overtime, and working weekends.
Requirements
- Able to safely operate a forklift in a manufacturing/warehouse setting.
- Ability to inspect and troubleshoot the forklift to detect issues and maximize operational availability.
- Ability to interpret verbal instructions and written documents such as customer orders.
- Ability to apply basic computer skills for data entry and reporting.
- Proficiency in accurately recording shipping data.
- Possess basic maintenance skills needed to help service equipment.
- Effective teamwork and communication skills with co-workers.
- Maintain regular and predictable attendance.
