About the Role
Join our Food Service team as a Dietary Aide, contributing to a fresh and tasty restaurant-style menu and ensuring patients' well-being and nutritional needs are met in a healthy and safe environment.
Responsibilities
- Tray passing, diet changes, and preparation and portioning of food items.
- Regular cleaning and sanitation of work areas and department equipment.
- Washing dishes and cooking equipment in the dish room and pot wash room.
- Removing garbage, recycling, and slop from the department.
- Safely and properly handling cleaning chemicals.
- Ensuring all kitchen areas are stocked with clean wares.
- Performing other related duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Ontario Secondary School diploma, equivalent, or higher education.
- Good command of the English language (English reading and writing test will be administered).
- Minimum of 3 years hospital food service experience.
- Knowledge of safe food handling and HACCP preferred.
- Food Handlers Certificate Required.
- Ability to lift, pull, and push weights of 25lbs or more frequently throughout the shift.
- Positive attitude and a genuine commitment to quality.
- Ability to work well under pressure.
- Demonstrated flexibility and adaptability to changing work routines or priorities.
- Ability to work with minimal supervision; must be self-motivated and demonstrate initiative.
- Ability to work independently or as a member of a team.
- Demonstrated problem-solving abilities.
- Demonstrated excellent interpersonal, communication, and customer service skills.
- Excellent attendance and discipline-free record required.
- An understanding of equity, diversity, and inclusion principles as they relate to health practices is an asset.
