About the Role
This role supports point-of-care staff in implementing and evaluating best practices for the assessment, treatment, and recovery of patients with acute psychiatric illnesses and concurrent substance use disorders. This position provides support to clinical teams at the Queen Street site and in outpatient settings in the community.
Responsibilities
- Support models of care in collaboration with the Advanced Practice Clinical Leader team.
- Role model clinical practice in complex care situations.
- Engage in direct care activities for complex and high-risk clients.
- Support interprofessional collaborative care, academic, and research opportunities.
- Promote the implementation and audit of documentation standards.
- Participate in or facilitate quality improvement projects and quality reviews focusing on patient safety.
- Supervise graduate students.
- Participate in program planning and evaluation with operational and professional practice leaders.
- Support integrated care pathways to enhance patient outcomes.
- Play an active role on internal and external committees.
- Serve as a clinical resource in service-level and organizational level strategic planning activities for both inpatient and outpatient services.
- Support a workplace that embraces diversity, encourages teamwork, clinical research integration, and complies with all applicable and regulatory requirements.
Requirements
- Possess a Master's Degree in nursing.
- Be a member in good standing with the College of Nurses of Ontario.
- Have 5 years of experience in mental health and addiction treatment.
- Demonstrate an understanding of the complex psychiatric and physical health needs of this clinical population.
- Eligibility for cross-appointment at the University of Toronto.
- Demonstrated ability to provide professional practice leadership.
- Demonstrated ability to challenge and motivate others.
- Demonstrated commitment to enhancing academic and research endeavors.
- Experience in leading change.
- Ability to provide advanced clinical care in a culturally diverse environment.
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, negotiation, teaching, and computer skills.
Skills
- CNA certification in psychiatric/mental health (asset)
- Other relevant certification (asset)
- Previous advanced practice/administrative/academic scholarship (asset)
- Bilingualism (French/English) or proficiency in a second language (asset)
