About the Role
The Injection Mold Operator 1 performs entry-level injection molding operations for aerospace manufacturing. This role involves supporting the setup, operation, monitoring, and documentation of injection molding equipment under direct supervision, learning department processes, material handling, tooling preparation, inspection methods, and aerospace quality standards while maintaining safe and efficient production practices. Success requires clear communication and effective teamwork in a manufacturing environment.
Responsibilities
- Operate injection molding equipment per work instructions, process sheets, and production schedules.
- Assist with mold setup, tooling preparation, material loading, and machine operation under supervision.
- Monitor molding cycles and production processes for quality and compliance.
- Remove molded components and perform trimming, cleaning, and basic finishing.
- Follow approved handling procedures for materials and products.
- Notify supervisors of process deviations, material concerns, or equipment issues.
- Perform basic in-process and visual inspections using approved criteria and tools.
- Accurately complete production documentation, inspection records, and traceability paperwork.
- Verify material identification, lot numbers, and work order information.
- Report defects, nonconformances, or quality concerns to appropriate personnel.
- Support compliance with AS9100 and internal quality system requirements.
- Participate in on-the-job and departmental cross-training.
- Work closely with experienced personnel to develop process knowledge.
- Support teamwork and departmental flexibility.
- Follow all company safety policies and manufacturing procedures.
- Utilize required PPE and comply with ESD and controlled manufacturing environment requirements.
- Maintain clean, organized, and safe work areas per housekeeping and 5S standards.
- Support routine machine cleaning and basic equipment care.
- Maintain regular attendance and dependability.
- Demonstrate professionalism and a willingness to learn.
- Communicate effectively with supervisors, leads, and team members.
- Perform other duties and special projects as assigned.
