About the Role

Join thermondo as Head of Group Accounting & Tax and contribute to climate neutrality. If you are interested in renewable energies and align with our values, you will create real added value for everyone.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the Accounting team, build backups, and develop the team into a high-performing unit with transparency, appreciation, and clear communication.
  • Oversee month-end, quarter-end, and year-end closings (HGB and IFRS) including consolidation and intercompany reconciliation.
  • Act as the central point of contact for auditors, tax advisors, and authorities.
  • Decide on the appropriate accounting treatment for complex balance sheet issues such as revenue recognition, provisions, customer financing models, impairment, or fixed assets, and document them in a binding Accounting Manual.
  • Manage the group's tax matters, including VAT, income tax, payroll tax, corporate groups, and transfer pricing, and confidently handle tax audits.
  • Optimize end-to-end processes (O2C, P2P, R2R) in collaboration with adjacent departments (Controlling, Tax, HR, Operations).
  • Reduce manual tasks and Excel dependencies through automation and AI in DATEV, LucaNet, Payhawk, and Salesforce.
  • Establish a risk-oriented internal control system (IKS).
  • Ensure financial data is diligence-ready for M&A and transaction projects.
  • Actively shape the transition from the existing system landscape to an integrated ERP system.

Requirements

  • Completed degree in Business Administration or Finance with a focus on Accounting/Taxation, or a comparable qualification.
  • Ideally, experience in tax consulting or auditing.
  • At least 8-10 years of professional experience in accounting and tax, with several years in a managerial position.
  • Proficiency in closings according to HGB (IFRS is a plus).
  • Solid knowledge of German tax law (VAT, corporate tax, corporate groups).
  • Very good knowledge of DATEV and LucaNet.
  • Practical experience in an ERP environment or in supporting an ERP implementation/transition.
  • Knowledge of Salesforce and Payhawk is an advantage.
  • Hands-on mentality, strong interface competence, and proven change management mindset.
  • Negotiation-level German language skills (C1 / native speaker).
  • Very good English language skills (C1).
  • Willingness to be present in the Berlin office regularly.
