About the Role
The Event Duty Manager is responsible for the full day-to-day operation of the Heritage Halls at Olympia. This role serves as the primary liaison between clients and internal/external contractors, ensuring seamless event delivery and maintaining Olympia's position as a world-leading event space. The Event Duty Manager will also act as the most senior on-site representative outside of office hours.
Responsibilities
- Lead on-site event operations, working closely with Event Management to ensure safe, seamless, and successful event delivery.
- Manage and coordinate operational teams, including security, traffic, cleaning, fire safety, and first aid, to deliver an exceptional customer experience.
- Act as the senior operational representative on site, taking ownership of incidents, venue issues, and stakeholder communication during events.
- Monitor venue standards and event finances, overseeing maintenance reporting, post-event charges, and compliance with operational procedures.
- Champion safety, compliance, and sustainability, ensuring events are delivered in line with company policies and sustainability objectives.
- Continuously improve knowledge of Olympia Events’ sustainability programme and promote sustainability practices.
- Follow and promote all sustainable workplace policies and procedures and seek ways to make your department more sustainable.
Requirements
- Event management experience or relevant qualification, with a strong understanding of event operations and organiser requirements.
- Excellent stakeholder management skills, able to communicate effectively with organisers, venue teams, contractors, and senior event personnel.
- Able to perform under pressure, successfully managing multiple concurrent events, builds, and breakdowns in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong understanding of health & safety, with knowledge of event-related compliance requirements.
- Highly organised and detail-oriented, with strong administrative, IT, time management, and planning skills.
