About the Role

This is a front-office role specializing in FX and Interest Rate Derivatives within UBS Global Markets' algorithmic trading team. You will work with experienced quant traders, gaining exposure to real-time trading, pricing, risk management, and PnL from day one.

Responsibilities

  • Design, back-test, and implement algorithmic trading strategies for FX & interest rate markets using a data-driven, quantitative approach.
  • Apply advanced statistical analysis and machine learning techniques to optimize pricing, quoting, and automated risk management strategies.
  • Continuously analyze high-frequency market data to refine models and improve execution.
  • Contribute to all stages of the trading strategy lifecycle – from research and model development through to coding, deployment, and real-time monitoring of strategies in production.
  • Track and analyze strategy performance, PnL, and risk exposures.
  • Use data insights to identify enhancements or new trading opportunities.
  • Work closely with senior traders, software engineers, and quants to integrate new algorithms into our e-trading platform.
  • Proactively suggest improvements to trading tools, frameworks, and processes to drive revenue and efficiency.

Requirements

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Good programming skills in any language with hands-on experience with data analysis and scientific libraries.
  • Ability to write clean, efficient code.
  • A passion for technology and data-driven decision making.
  • Comfortable handling large datasets and performing rigorous statistical analysis.
  • Highly motivated and able to work independently, taking initiative to drive projects forward without constant supervision.
  • Ready to take on real ownership of deliverables in a trading environment.
  • Strong communication skills – able to understand complex business and technical problems, and articulate solutions clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
  • A collaborative team player who can build positive working relationships and is unafraid to ask questions or respectfully challenge ideas.
  • Prior exposure to FX, rates, or STIR markets is an advantage (but not a strict requirement).
  • Experience working with electronic trading systems or market data infrastructure is an advantage.
  • Experience in a professional software development environment is a plus.
  • Proficiency with additional programming languages (especially Java or C++ for low-latency systems) are plus points.
  • Curious to explore how AI can improve how we build, deliver, and optimize workflows.
  • Validate outputs and align with policies, risk standards, and ethical use.
