About the Role
Responsible for delivering disciplined credit decisions and portfolio oversight that support safe, profitable growth while maintaining alignment with Truist's risk appetite and regulatory expectations. Builds trusted partnerships with line of business and Credit Delivery teammates to provide constructive challenge, thoughtful risk insight, and practical solutions that balance client needs, asset quality, and financial performance.
Responsibilities
- Serve as a senior credit risk officer for large and complex segments within wholesale lending or specialty lines of businesses.
- Promote consistency of Bank's credit culture and lending strategies throughout the organization.
- Lead the advancement of the organization's risk management culture, framework, and appetite throughout the assigned segment within the LOB.
- Communicate effectively as a thought leader to support development and maintenance of a strong credit culture.
- Provide risk leadership through ongoing active engagement with LOB, Product Partner, and Credit Delivery teams.
- Offer guidance, coaching, and mentoring to teammates on sound principles of lending.
- Support teammate development through regular feedback and constructive dialogue.
- Partner with segment leaders to develop, communicate, and execute credit strategies, limits, and policies.
- Optimize capital deployment and mitigate risk.
- Exercise prudent credit judgment through individual delegated loan authority to shape portfolio within risk appetite guidelines and concentration management approaches.
- Stay abreast of laws, regulations, and risk management techniques to ensure compliance and best practices.
- Stay abreast of local, national, and global economic trends and market conditions.
- Manage highly complex decisions that could have significant impact to risks and profitability.
- Ensure appropriate Risk Rating for the portfolio.
- Monitor portfolio performance and identify areas of emerging risks.
- Develop strategies and action plans for emerging risk.
- Elevate emerging risks to Senior Credit Officer.
- Present portfolio updates and recommendations to senior executives, Risk Oversight Committees, and regulators as requested.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree, or equivalent education and related training.
- 15 years of combined experience in CRE and commercial lending and/or credit experience.
- Widespread financial credit risk and regulatory knowledge.
- Solid accounting/financial analysis skills.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills with demonstrated leadership ability to collaborate across teams and build strong relationships.
- 20 years of combined experience in CRE and commercial lending and/or credit experience.
- Master's degree in business administration, finance, or accounting.
- Broad product knowledge and experience, including Debt and Equity Capital Markets, Asset Finance, and Treasury Management product categories.
- Experience across a broad span of industries or deep experience within a specific industry.
- RMA - Credit Risk Certification.
- Experience applying artificial intelligence to improve business processes in the lending environment.
