About the Role
The Fire Department of the City of New York (FDNY) seeks a full-time Agency Attorney Level III in the Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO) Office. This role involves conducting complex EEO investigations, legal research, compliance inspections, and training with minimal oversight.
Responsibilities
- Conduct investigations of complex EEO violations with minimal oversight.
- Conduct interviews of complainants, respondents, and witnesses.
- Gather relevant documents and prepare written summaries of investigations and closing memos.
- Refer findings to the appropriate bureaus for action.
- Research legal issues relating to EEO law.
- Conduct EEO compliance inspections.
- Conduct thorough intake interviews and draft detailed and timely intake reports.
- Conduct EEO training for FDNY employees, EEO counselors, and FDNY units.
- Assist in the development of EEO statistics and reports.
Requirements
- Admission to the New York State Bar.
- One year of satisfactory United States legal experience subsequent to admission to any state bar, OR six months of satisfactory service as an Agency Attorney Interne.
- Must remain a Member of the New York State Bar in good standing for the duration of employment.
- To be assigned to AL III, candidates must have two years of experience in Assignment Levels I and/or II or three years of comparable legal experience subsequent to admission to the bar, in the areas of law related to the assignment.
