About the Role

The Director of Health Programs and Services will work across the Division of Youth and Family Justice (DYFJ) continuum to ensure youth in ACS care receive optimal medical care. This role involves auditing, monitoring, and providing technical assistance to ensure quality clinical practice standards.

Responsibilities

  • Perform audits of health services (medical, dental, mental health) charts of youth in ACS care using agency-developed tools to determine compliance with mandates and standards.
  • Conduct random case reviews to monitor and assess triage and referrals for acute and chronic conditions, including screening, assessment, care coordination, and discharge.
  • Perform site visits to DYFJ facilities to observe healthcare delivery and provide technical assistance for operational issues.
  • Collaborate with DYFJ Health Services and ACS Office of Child and Family Health to analyze data and identify trends and policies affecting health service delivery.
  • Work with DYFJ program staff to review health-related incidents and ensure ACS-contracted health services staff meet contractual obligations.
  • Participate in developing performance improvement plans for ACS-contracted health services staff.
  • Coordinate with other units within DYFJ and the Office of Child and Family Health to provide consultation and technical assistance to contracted providers.
  • Prepare and maintain documentation and reports using various sources like forms, case files, site visits, surveys, and databases.
  • Organize in-service training programs for DYFJ and ACS-contracted health services staff.
  • Attend meetings on behalf of leadership to advance divisional and agency-wide goals.
  • Participate in research, proposal development for program funding, and execution of projects to improve service delivery and health care quality standards.

Requirements

  • Must be permanent (not provisional) in the Administrative Public Health Nurse title.
  • Must be willing to travel and attend meetings and events across ACS detention facilities and contracted residential placement programs.

Experience Level

  • 4 years of recent experience in public health or hospital nursing or a related field
  • 18 months of experience in an administrative, managerial, executive, consultative or educational capacity, or in supervision of professional public health nursing personnel

  • Baccalaureate degree in Nursing from an accredited college
  • Master's degree in Nursing, Public Health or a related field

  • $130,000.00-$140,000.00
