About the Role
Perform installations and repair work involving rough finish and general carpentry under supervision.
Responsibilities
- Install, repair, and replace flooring, partitions, window frames and sashes, door frames and doors, and other related components of buildings and structures within various occupied apartments, including American Disability Act (504) apartments.
- Restore vacant apartments to rent-ready condition by performing necessary carpentry repairs and replacements.
- Repair and replace various shelving, cabinets, interviewer doors, and ceilings.
- Build new wall cabinets, countertops, and bases from sketches and plans for Police Service Areas and Viper Rooms.
Requirements
- Must possess civil service status in the title of Carpenter to be considered.
- Interagency transfers into NYCHA of those permanent in title are not permitted in the face of an active and viable NYCHA promotion list or preferred list for the same title.
- NYCHA employees applying for promotional, title, or level change opportunities must have served a period of one year in their current title and level (if applicable).
- Five years of full-time satisfactory experience as a Carpenter acquired within the last 10 years.
- Three years of experience as a Carpenter plus sufficient relevant training from an approved trade or vocational high school to total five years of acceptable experience (six months of experience credited for each year of approved training).
