About the Role

The NYC Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) is seeking a dynamic individual to serve as a Business Analyst within the Business Services Group. This role supports the Bureau of Customer Services (BCS) by maintaining and enhancing DEP’s UMAX system, championing process improvements, developing training, and supporting leadership with analytics. The Business Analyst will report directly to the Director of the Business Services Group.

Responsibilities

  • Project manage specific process improvement projects from ideation to implementation.
  • Analyze data and prepare reports, summaries, and dashboards for management review.
  • Coordinate project timelines, maintain trackers, and follow up on outstanding items.
  • Draft and edit internal communications, memos, and documentation.
  • Perform related administrative and analytical tasks to support the Business Services Group.
  • Manage special projects initiated by the Director.

Requirements

  • Must be permanent in the Civil Service Title Staff Analyst to be considered for an interview.
  • A master's degree from an accredited college in economics, finance, accounting, business or public administration, human resources management, management science, operations research, organizational behavior, industrial psychology, statistics, personnel administration, labor relations, psychology, sociology, human resources development, political science, urban studies or a Juris Doctor degree from an accredited law school.
  • A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college and two years of satisfactory full-time professional experience in budget administration, accounting, economic or financial administration, fiscal or economic research; management or methods analysis, operations research, organizational research or program evaluation; personnel or public administration, recruitment, position classification, personnel relations, labor relations, employee benefits, staff development, employment program planning/administration, labor market research, economic planning, social services program planning/evaluation, or fiscal management; or a related area.
  • An associate degree or completion of 60 semester credits from an accredited college and four years of satisfactory full-time professional experience as described above.
  • A four-year high school diploma or its educational equivalent and six years of satisfactory full-time professional experience as described above.
  • A combination of education and/or experience equivalent to the above.
  • College education may be substituted for professional experience at the rate of 30 semester credits from an accredited college for one year of experience.
  • All candidates must have a high school diploma.
  • To be eligible for placement in Assignment Level II, individuals must have, after meeting the minimum requirements, one additional year of professional experience as described above.
