About the Role

We build humanoid systems, from hardware and electronics to software and manufacturing, all in-house in Berlin. Our goal is to build systems that empower humans, not replace them. Our technology is deployed with industry leading customers and partners, and our own product is close to launch. We are looking for people who want to be here early, take ownership, and help us build what others only talk about.

Responsibilities

  • Shape the hardware identity: Define how our humanoids look and feel, carrying the design direction through to physical systems.
  • Design for passive safety first: Ensure safety in the geometry from the first sketch, addressing clearances, pinch points, contact surfaces, and fall behavior.
  • Integrate complex systems: Package internals such as sensors, cameras, cooling, connectors, and cable routing.
  • Physical human machine interaction: Design status signals, touchpoints, and physical cues to communicate the robot's actions.
  • Build the ecosystem around the robot: Extend the design language to charging docks, transport cases, maintenance gear, and packaging.
  • From model to CAD: Build physical models, test their durability, and create surfacing and CAD for engineering.
  • Materials and processes: Select finishes, review physical samples, and collaborate with suppliers on feasibility, cost, and lead times, exploring non-standard materials and external labs.

Requirements

  • A degree in industrial or product design, or an engineering degree with a strong design focus.
  • Approximately five or more years of experience designing physical products in-house or at a studio, preferably in robotics, medical devices, lab and industrial equipment, mobility, or similar fields.
  • Experience with products built in the hundreds rather than millions.
  • Experience designing under mechanical safety requirements, including guarding, clearances, and contact safety.
  • Proficiency in surface modeling with Rhino, Onshape, SolidWorks, or Fusion, along with 3D printing and workshop skills.
  • Ability to read mechanical drawings, participate in technical discussions, and articulate design decisions.
  • Fluent English language skills.
