About the Role
EGI is seeking an experienced Civil Engineer with strong project management skills to join their Owner's Engineering team. This role focuses on the deep integration of renewable energy sources and market integration, involving the preparation, planning, and implementation of HV substation projects. The engineer will be responsible for project quality, budget, schedule, and reporting, requiring strong organizational, communication, and teamwork abilities.
Responsibilities
- Defining plant-specific requirements for HV substations, particularly civil engineering aspects.
- Editing technical guidelines for HV substation construction.
- Supervising quality checks during HV substation installation.
- Controlling the entire technical implementation process, including tender document drafting, contract awarding, and customer/contracting party acceptance.
- Collaborating with project managers, preparing reports, budget forecasts, and schedules.
- Attending construction meetings and placing orders under framework agreements.
- Ensuring technical customer requirements are met and comply with relevant guidelines, regulations, and safety standards.
- Preparing comparisons of technical and economic alternatives.
- Conducting preparatory work for significant investment decisions.
Requirements
- Several years of experience in infrastructure projects as a civil design & engineer, consulting engineer, or project manager for a contractor, engineering/consulting company, and/or employer.
- Understanding of civil engineering requirements for power infrastructure projects, including outdoor and indoor HV substation design, HV cables support structures, buildings, roads, trenches, steel structures, and control buildings.
- Experience in civil works planning, design, tendering, supervision, and quality control.
- Ability to determine work scope for greenfield HV substations, as well as substation extensions and rehabilitation projects.
- Experience and capability to guide a team of engineers in executing complex HV substation and transmission line projects in Germany and abroad.
- Experience in managing international development bank-financed projects is an asset.
- Experience in project implementation according to HOAI.
- Extensive autonomy and flexibility.
- Experience with iTWO, SAP, and MS Office.
- Fluent in English and German.
- Knowledge of French and/or another language is an asset.
