About the Role

This role contributes to achieving the strategy’s aims through delivery of a first-class housing advice and options service, ensuring statutory Homelessness Reduction Act legislative requirements are met, and working effectively with stakeholders using early intervention and prevention strategies.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure tenancies set up via Camden’s PRS access schemes are sustainable and sustained for as long as possible through casework with applicants and landlords/agents and wider joint working.
  • Achieve challenging targets within defined timescales for helping families make positive moves to prevent homelessness or out of temporary accommodation, through provision of first-class housing advice and support with a wide range of housing options.
  • Complete high-quality, timely, and accurate assessments in accordance with the Housing Act 1996 Parts VI and VII, Code of Guidance, caselaw, and the council’s strategies and policies.
  • Ensure personalised housing plans are actioned for households to move seamlessly and successfully to an affordable, suitable, and sustainable home.
  • Support people leaving prison to access and sustain safe accommodation, working closely with partners across the criminal justice system.
  • Coordinate effective release planning and reduce the risk of homelessness on release.
  • Engage in regular co-location with criminal justice partners, building strong working relationships and ensuring a joined-up approach to supporting individuals to successfully reintegrate into the community.

  • Good understanding of housing legislation and related areas.
  • Confident using data and digital systems to keep services efficient and accessible.
  • Commitment to safeguarding and wellbeing, taking a trauma-informed approach and supporting psychological safety.
  • Belief that everyone deserves a safe, decent home.
  • Readiness to go the extra mile to make services approachable, transparent, and responsive.
  • Enthusiasm for Camden’s ambition to make it the best place to live and work.
  • Passion for ensuring services are delivered in a relational way, with the best outcomes for residents at its heart.
  • Proactive approach acting early to prevent issues and supporting people before problems escalate.
  • Caring and empathetic approach, listening and understanding residents’ concerns.
  • Ability to collaborate well with colleagues, partners, and communities.
  • Knowledge of how to engage with people from different backgrounds in a respectful and inclusive way.
  • Standard DBS check required.
