About the Role

Bright!Tax is seeking a Tax Senior specializing in Business Entities to anchor our US business entity work. This role involves preparing, reviewing, and delivering various tax forms for international-based American entrepreneurs. You will manage work end-to-end, review returns prepared by others, and handle individual expat returns to maintain a balanced workload. Additionally, you will mentor team members interested in entity work. This position is ideal for someone confident in making independent judgment calls and comfortable with the operational style of a small, fully remote firm.

Responsibilities

  • Review, sign, and deliver Forms 1065, 1120, and 1120-S for expat-owned businesses.
  • Prepare entity tax forms end-to-end.
  • Grow expertise in international layers including Forms 5471, 8865, and 8858, GILTI and subpart F, and foreign trust reporting.
  • Communicate directly with clients via phone and video to explain tax positions, review returns, and discuss filing requirements.
  • Mentor and upskill Tax Team members in entity preparation, in collaboration with Learning and Development.
  • Handle individual expat returns and international filings during non-peak entity periods.
  • Document entity standards, review checklists, and common fact patterns to ensure repeatable, reviewable, and teachable processes.

Requirements

  • Approximately four to eight years of US tax experience with substantial entity work.
  • Demonstrated ability to make independent judgment calls without escalation.
  • Experience owning client relationships and making independent judgment calls.
  • CPA or EA required, active and in good standing.
  • Must hold a current PTIN and be eligible to sign as a paid preparer.
  • Working knowledge of partner and shareholder basis.
  • Working knowledge of K-1 and K-2 / K-3 reporting.
  • Working knowledge of controlled foreign corporation and foreign partnership regimes.
  • Comfortable working in a cloud practice stack.
  • Professional fluency in English, both written and spoken.
  • Background in a small firm or independent practice is preferred.
  • If running own practice, it cannot be a side engagement; committed capacity across the filing calendar is required.
  • Experience serving US owners living abroad or time in a firm with an international or expat client base is a plus.
  • Experience building technical training or running upskilling for a team is a plus.
