About the Role

The Senior Reporter produces accurate, engaging, and well-informed news and analysis on major UK environmental stories. This role involves identifying and pursuing original stories, monitoring various sources, and developing contacts within the environmental sector. The position offers opportunities in news reporting, data journalism, research, podcasting, and long-form content creation, contributing to the ENDS Report's ECO Chamber podcast and social media activities.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor widely for news and generate off-diary news.
  • Write relevant, timely news articles for ENDS Report.
  • Understand and interpret subscribers' requirements.
  • Respect deadlines, briefs, and house style.
  • Assist with research to support the development and production of special reports.
  • Assist with ENDS Report’s tracker services, including monitoring and uploading updates.
  • Check facts to ensure accuracy.
  • Be aware of the political and economic context of stories.
  • Positively communicate the ENDS brand in person and through social media platforms.

Requirements

  • Good understanding of media law.
  • An understanding of environmental issues or a proven interest in the area.
  • Good news sense and ability to think creatively about the news agenda.
  • Curiosity and the willingness to become knowledgeable about the subject matter.
  • A recognised journalistic qualification and at least two years of experience in B2B journalism, national news, or investigative reporting, with a proven history of breaking exclusive news.
  • Data journalism skills, or the capacity to develop them.
  • Ability to build and maintain professional contacts.
  • Excellent writing and communications skills.
