About the Role
As a Staff / Senior Staff Security Engineer within Vinted Pay, you will be instrumental in ensuring the security posture of our rapidly growing fintech business aligns with its expansion across multiple European licenses. This role requires integrating security into the core financial architecture, addressing a complex attack surface spanning AWS infrastructure, payment pipelines, and sensitive member data, all while adhering to stringent regulatory requirements like PCI DSS and DORA.
Responsibilities
- Own the Vinted Pay security roadmap end to end, prioritizing risks based on real attack paths.
- Translate regulatory requirements (PCI DSS, DORA, Bank of Lithuania, FCA) into practical, automated security controls and engineering guardrails.
- Conduct deep technical reviews of AWS infrastructure, payment pipelines, SIEM, logging, and vulnerability management tooling, and implement fixes.
- Own PCI DSS and data protection architecture, including payment page isolation, script monitoring, data encryption, and least-privilege access.
- Lead cross-functional security initiatives across Payments Platform, Payments Engineering, and Group Security.
- Act as the technical arm of Vinted Pay's security accountability, maintaining the risk register and representing Vinted Pay in security governance.
- Embed secure development practices into Payments engineering and improve the security fluency of Vinted Pay engineers.
Requirements
- Strong hands-on security engineering experience with a proven ability to build or run large production systems.
- Experience in regulated payments or fintech, including working under PCI DSS and financial regulations.
- Staff- or principal-level track record of defining, leading, and delivering major technical initiatives.
- Ability to adapt across staff engineering archetypes (tech lead, architect, solver, right hand).
- Evidence-based approach to security, focusing on attack paths over checklists and guardrails over gates.
- Demonstrated ability to influence without authority and translate technical risk into business consequences.
- Comfortable with or eager to learn the Vinted stack (Ruby on Rails, Go, MySQL, Temporal, AWS, SIEM/CSPM tooling).
