About the Role

We are seeking a junior quantitative researcher with expertise in agency mortgage-backed securities (MBS) and CMOs. This role involves a balance between informing live trading through analytics and conducting independent research into new return opportunities. Junior researchers are empowered to lead their own research initiatives.

Responsibilities

Assist senior portfolio managers and researchers in identifying new and profitable trading strategies and alphas.
Research, scope, and onboard new securitized markets and sectors.
Enhance the systematic trading platform for securitized products, staying current with market trends and research.
Conduct novel research on trading signals, prepayment modeling, pricing, and hedging.
Leverage AI tools to increase the efficiency and impact of research and trading activities.

Requirements

A degree in a quantitative discipline such as engineering, mathematics, physics, or computer science.
Minimum of one year of experience with agency MBS, gained from a buy-side desk, dealership, or analytics vendor.
Proficiency in understanding Agency MBS concepts, including TBA, rolls, payups, collateral attributes, and prepayment behavior.
Strong applied statistics and programming skills, with the ability to distinguish genuine results from noise and write readable, testable code.
Capacity to articulate and present complex ideas clearly and intuitively.
