About the Role
Gen Re, London P&C is seeking a Casualty Facultative Senior Underwriter to market and underwrite casualty facultative business, focusing on direct client engagement and developing profitable opportunities.
Responsibilities
- Marketing and underwriting of casualty facultative business, soliciting new business and handling renewals on a direct basis.
- Underwriting UK, International, and US casualty risks as a reinsurer of UK and Irish cedents.
- Engaging potential clients, developing a pipeline of profitable opportunities and contacts.
- Analyzing and documenting risk exposures and coverages.
- Assessing the technical insurability and profitability of new and renewal submissions.
- Underwriting, pricing, structuring, and negotiating facultative reinsurance schemes.
- Understanding and applying Casualty Facultative underwriting philosophy, appetite, and guidelines.
Requirements
- Proven track record of successful underwriting in Third Party Liability lines of business.
- Strong technical underwriting background and customer focus.
- Proficiency in understanding contracts, policy forms, and terms and conditions.
- Experience with technical rates and ability to provide an external view.
- Successful track record in building/growing a sustainable portfolio.
- Strong numerical, research, and analytical skills.
- Well-developed interpersonal, negotiation, and communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment.
- Self-starter with initiative.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- High degree of energy, tenacity, and motivation to develop a deeper understanding of liability products.
- Strong Microsoft Office skills.
