About the Role
Serve as the primary contact for all guests throughout their stay, effectively and efficiently checking guests in and out of the hotel.
Responsibilities
- Operate the front desk according to standard operating procedures and with exceptional guest service.
- Operate the reservation, check-in/checkout, and credit card systems accurately, following all safety and security procedures.
- Check registration (folio) cards for completeness, accuracy, and legibility.
- Maintain an accurate cash sheet and balance the cash drawer.
- Operate the switchboard, disperse calls, and take accurate guest messages and faxes, noting the date and time.
- Repeat messages back to callers to ensure accuracy and use the message light to notify guests of messages.
- Know and respond to emergency procedures.
- Never say a guest's room number out loud.
- Be knowledgeable of hotel promotions, room rates, and amenities.
- Understand the building's physical makeup (exterior and interior) and know the location of nearby shopping, convenience stores, and gas stations.
- Complete daily reports, audits, and correspondences as required.
- Keep the lobby and office area clean at all times.
- Set wake-up calls as directed.
- Prepare and update the room status sheet for housekeeping.
- Take and confirm credit cards for validity and acceptability.
- Lock and secure the area when leaving the front desk.
- Create incident reports for guest injuries/issues when required.
- Answer all calls within three rings using a scripted manner.
- Take and record reservations accurately and confirm as requested.
- Resolve guest complaints.
- Maintain regular attendance, punctuality, and observe prescribed work, break, and meal periods.
- Maintain high standards of personal appearance and grooming, complying with the dress code.
- Perform any other duties as requested by a supervisor.
- Accommodate qualified individuals with disabilities to perform essential duties.
Requirements
- Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
- Ability to write simple correspondence.
- Ability to speak English fluently.
- Ability to interpret and perform basic computer and POS system functions.
