About the Role
The Finance Consulting team helps clients develop their finance functions to provide optimal support to their organizations. This involves addressing specific issues like speeding up month-end processes, improving management information quality, or providing training. It also includes diagnosing root causes of client issues, benchmarking finance functions, and redesigning future-fit finance functions for events like exits or IPOs. The role emphasizes close client partnership, providing insight, challenge, and pragmatic support.
Responsibilities
- Manage and lead projects, typically two at a time, with minimal oversight.
- Serve as the key lead for projects, liaising with Directors or Partners for final review.
- Work closely with Associate Directors, Directors, and Partners on larger, complex client issues.
- Build internal and external networks to grow experience in opportunity generation.
- Use empathy and listening skills to uncover root causes of issues and translate them into compelling propositions.
- Demonstrate a collaborative attitude towards colleagues across departments to bring the most appropriate capabilities to clients.
- Communicate confidently with Executive client members such as CFOs and FDs.
- Manage expectations of senior colleagues and face off to CFOs, FDs, and Private Equity House stakeholders.
- Take ownership of quality, compliance, and risk matters.
- Assist with practice development initiatives, including internal business development, external marketing, and toolkit improvement.
- Take responsibility for managing engagement budgets and timelines.
Requirements
- Hold a professional qualification (ACA, ICAS, CA, ACCA, or CIPFA).
- Possess post-qualification experience.
- Be confident managing a large portfolio of audit clients.
- Have proven experience in at least one of the following: month-end and year-end reporting; financial analysis and reporting; process improvement; Finance system selection or implementation.
- Ability to use a framework and methodology-driven approach to identify root causes, propose solutions, and deliver them.
- Ability to work with and influence senior stakeholders.
- Ability to show true empathy.
- Past experience of leading teams and projects.
