About the Role

This Business Manager role supports the Reward & Performance function, assisting the leadership team in coordinating and managing operational, governance, and business management activities for a large, global team. The role offers broad exposure to the Reward & Performance agenda, including governance, financial management, workforce planning, risk and control oversight, communications, and colleague engagement, while also supporting HR and enterprise-wide initiatives.

Responsibilities

  • Implement Target Operating Model, business development, and resource allocation, providing strategic insight.
  • Provide strategic support and oversight of the demand pipeline and book of work.
  • Support operational efficiency and enhance colleague/customer/client experience by streamlining processes and implementing best practices.
  • Manage the people plan, talent development, and succession planning, including mentorship and leadership development.
  • Communicate with internal and external stakeholders, managing communication channels and ensuring cross-departmental coordination.
  • Participate in compliance activities, crisis management, and risk mitigation, including developing contingency plans.
  • Manage organizational/team requirements related to technology, real estate, people, and communications.
  • Enable oversight of risk management and compliance with internal and external requirements.
  • Manage cost control and workforce management, including financial analysis, forecasting, and performance monitoring.
  • Advise and influence decision-making, contribute to policy development, and take responsibility for operational effectiveness.
  • Lead a team performing complex tasks, delivering work that impacts the business function.
  • Set objectives, coach employees, appraise performance, and determine reward outcomes.
  • Lead collaborative assignments and guide team members, identifying the need for specialized expertise.
  • Identify new directions for assignments and projects, utilizing cross-functional methodologies.
  • Consult on complex issues and advise People Leaders on escalated issues.
  • Identify ways to mitigate risk and develop new policies/procedures.
  • Take ownership for managing risk and strengthening controls.
  • Perform work related to other areas, understanding coordination and contribution to organizational objectives.
  • Collaborate with other work areas for business-aligned support and to stay updated on business strategy.
  • Engage in complex data analysis from multiple sources to solve problems creatively.
  • Communicate complex information, including sensitive or difficult-to-convey content.
  • Influence or convince stakeholders to achieve outcomes.
  • Support the Reward & Performance Leadership Team in coordinating and managing operational, governance, and business management activities.
  • Coordinate activity across Finance, Risk & Control, Service Management, Records Management, Supplier Management, HR specialist business management teams, and wider corporate functions.
  • Support planning and delivery of leadership meetings, governance forums, communications, and engagement activities.
  • Prepare high-quality presentations, briefing materials, and recommendations for senior audiences.
  • Support financial management and workforce planning, including monitoring budgets and headcount.
  • Support planning activities and ensure effective governance and control processes are maintained.

Requirements

  • Experience with business management, governance, finance, risk and control, workforce planning, or operational management within a large and complex organisation.
  • Experience supporting senior leadership teams and coordinating delivery across multiple strategic and operational priorities.
  • Experience managing governance processes, tracking delivery against objectives, and ensuring actions are executed effectively.
  • Experience producing high-quality communications, presentations, briefing papers, and materials for senior leadership and executive audiences.
  • Experience identifying issues, risks, and dependencies and driving practical solutions in a fast-paced environment.
  • Experience building effective relationships and influencing stakeholders across multiple functions and levels of seniority.
  • Ability to work independently with strong organizational skills, sound judgment, and a high degree of attention to detail.
  • Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion and professionalism.
  • A pragmatic and highly organized approach, with the flexibility to support a wide range of activities.
