About the Role
This role focuses on the content platform, which is a foundational element of the company's offerings. The individual will shape the layer upon which all other product elements are built, influencing the company's direction for years to come. The position involves navigating ambiguity and making key decisions in a rapidly evolving space.
Responsibilities
- Own the content services and APIs that serve content to all surfaces, including the learner and admin surfaces, and future products.
- Manage the content delivery path, including CDN, video, and file/asset storage.
- Define and own the structural contract for content storage, versioning, and serving, ensuring it is clear, stable, and safe for other teams to build against.
- Own multi-tenant separation, ensuring customer content and branding remain exclusive.
- Define and own the tenancy model, which will be an early priority.
- Manage access, entitlements, and data residency, determining who can access what and where data is stored.
- Oversee performance and cost per tenant, ensuring the content layer is efficient and cost-effective.
- Lead the platform side of an ongoing migration from an incumbent content tool while maintaining current system operations.
- Address non-functional requirements that arise during sales deals, particularly in security and compliance reviews.
Requirements
- Experience with content management as a product (e.g., CMS, DAM, headless content platform, structured content system at scale).
- Experience owning platform or infrastructure-adjacent product, measured by the success of other teams building on it.
- Sufficient technical depth to understand architecture proposals and ask clarifying questions.
- Ability to engage effectively with senior engineers, infrastructure engineers, and security specialists.
- A habit of thinking in terms of system seams, contracts between systems, and reversible decisions.
- Ability to sequence work effectively, especially in modernizing a platform with existing operations.
- Strong writing skills for documenting decisions, tradeoffs, and reasoning for both technical and executive audiences.
