About the Role
WSP is seeking graduates to join their Mining teams in 2027. This role offers the chance to work in a leading engineering and professional services consultancy, supporting projects that manage technical, environmental, and sustainability challenges across the mining life cycle.
Responsibilities
- Support clients across the full mining life cycle, from early-stage studies and design through to operations, closure, and long-term stewardship.
- Contribute to international projects combining science, engineering, and environmental thinking to help mining projects operate more safely, responsibly, and sustainably.
- Manage complex environmental and engineering challenges in Mine Water, including surface water, groundwater, water quality, hydrology, hydrogeology, and geochemistry.
- Support projects involving tailings, waste rock, and other facilities in Mine Waste, informing safe design, risk management, closure planning, and protection of people and the environment.
- Develop practical, technically robust solutions for mine infrastructure, engineering design, and ground stability.
- Collaborate with specialists across the UK, Ireland, and the wider global network.
- Build technical skills while contributing to projects that can make a lasting difference around the world.
Requirements
- Must have or be on track to achieve at least a 2:2 in a relevant bachelor's or master's degree.
- Must be looking to start work in April or September 2027.
- Must have an interest in Mine Waste, Mine Water, or Mine Engineering.
- Must be keen to develop an understanding of design, geotechnical structures, monitoring tools, and technical data.
- Must be comfortable sharing ideas, asking questions, and working with others across project teams.
- Must be curious, adaptable, and motivated to help solve complex challenges linked to responsible mining, environmental protection, and sustainable resource development.
- Must be organised, proactive, and ready to take ownership of work and development.
- Must be keen to learn, broaden skillset, and build confidence using digital tools, including Microsoft packages.
- Candidates must complete the application form in full, including all specific questions.
- If successful at the initial stage, candidates will be invited to complete an online assessment, containing a cognitive assessment, personality questionnaire, and Situational Judgement Test.
