About the Role
Nature Communications is seeking an editor with a critical eye, a deep understanding of their subject, and interests beyond their specialty to join the Human Behaviour team. The ideal candidate will have experience in political science, economics (particularly behavioural economics), or closely related disciplines.
Responsibilities
- Handle original research papers and work closely with other editors on all aspects of the editorial process, including manuscript selection and overseeing peer review.
- Make well-reasoned editorial decisions on submitted manuscripts in light of expert advice.
- Determine the representation of their subject in the journal.
- Liaise extensively with editors at other journals in the Nature family and with experts in the international scientific community.
- Attend conferences and visit research institutions.
Requirements
- A PhD (or equivalent) in political science, economics (particularly behavioural economics), or a closely related field.
- A thorough understanding of recent trends and developments in the field is essential.
- A passion for science and a thirst to learn more, demonstrating breadth of interest in scientific research.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Fluent in English (written and spoken).
- Ability to read and assess the novelty, context, and implications of research submitted to the journal.
- Eagerness to travel and meet scientists worldwide.
