About the Role
This role leads the development and implementation of a child and family support framework for the Open Support Domestic & Family Violence Service. It utilizes practical skills in working directly with children and families, alongside program and project management skills, to establish best practices. The position requires a strong understanding of child protection standards and guidelines, including the National Principles for Child Safe Organisations.
Responsibilities
- Lead the development and implementation of a child and family support framework.
- Guide service delivery and drive the provision of high-quality, child-centered, trauma-informed support.
- Utilize practical skills in working directly with children and families.
- Utilize program and project management skills to establish and embed best practices.
- Develop and deliver individual and group interventions.
- Ensure compliance with the National Principles for Child Safe Organisations.
- Communicate and network with multiple service providers to ensure client needs are met.
- Participate in an on-call roster (1 week every 5).
Requirements
- Minimum Tertiary qualification in Early Childhood Education, Social Work, Psychology, Occupational Therapy or similar qualification in a related discipline.
- Experience supporting children and/or families affected by DFV using flexible, child-centered, and trauma-informed approaches.
- Demonstrated understanding of early childhood development.
- Experience in developing and applying play-based approaches within a family violence setting.
- Knowledge of specific issues facing children who have experienced trauma and its impact on child development, attachment, and behavior.
- Ability to create, implement, and evaluate evidence-based programs of support.
- Ability to identify and effectively manage risk in a DFV setting.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate and network with multiple service providers.
- Strong interpersonal, active listening, and negotiation skills.
- Experience in effectively managing difficult situations.
- Demonstrated skills in working both autonomously and within a small team context.
- Knowledge of specific issues facing migrants and people from CALD backgrounds who experience DFV.
- Completion of ECAV training or other approved child protection qualification, or willingness to work toward the same.
- Current NSW Driver's Licence.
- Current Working With Children Check.
- Current NSW Police Check clearance.
- Current First Aid Certificate & Mental Health First Aid Certificate or willingness to work toward the same.
