About the Role

Disney Entertainment and ESPN Product & Technology is seeking a Full Stack Software Engineer to contribute to both backend and frontend development. This role involves implementing high-performance applications and seamless user interfaces that deliver Disney’s content to audiences worldwide. You will build scalable solutions, collaborate with various teams, and create innovative viewing experiences supporting streaming, digital products, advertising, and content distribution.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain scalable, high-performance applications across backend and frontend systems.
  • Build robust Java Spring Boot services and APIs alongside modern VueJS based user interfaces.
  • Partner with product managers and engineering teams to define requirements and deliver end-to-end solutions.
  • Ensure alignment with architectural standards, security, and best practices.
  • Drive code quality through reviews and consistent development practices.
  • Optimize system performance and reliability.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve production issues.
  • Collaborate with DevOps and QA teams to support CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, and monitoring.
  • Contribute to evolving engineering practices by adopting new technologies, tools, and frameworks.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of full-stack development experience.
  • Strong hands-on Java, Spring Boot, and Vue.js or React experience.
  • Proven experience building scalable, high-performance backend and frontend solutions for distributed concurrent applications.
  • Experience developing and integrating RESTful APIs and UI components.
  • Solid understanding of microservices, dependency injection, application lifecycle management, and frontend state/component management.
  • Knowledge of backend and frontend performance optimization techniques.
  • Experience working in Agile, cross-functional teams.
  • Strong collaboration and communication skills.
  • Ability to translate business and design requirements into scalable, performant, and maintainable solutions.
  • Strong problem-solving skills with a proactive and detail-oriented approach.
  • Experience with relational databases, schema design, and query optimization (Preferred).
  • Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, AWS, and CI/CD pipelines (Preferred).
  • Experience with distributed systems, event-driven architectures, and messaging technologies (Preferred).
  • Experience using AI tools to accelerate development, debugging, and code quality (Preferred).
  • Familiarity with AWS CloudFront and S3 (Preferred).
  • Knowledge of streaming workflows, video delivery, or media distribution (Preferred).
  • Experience in the media or entertainment industry (Preferred).

Salary/Compensations

  • New York, New York: $148,700 - $199,400 per year
  • Bristol, CT: $141,900 - $190,300 per year
