About the Role
This role offers an opportunity to influence policies, initiatives, and projects that improve the lives of millions of people by supporting the transition of the NSW bus fleet to electric buses. You will be part of TfNSW’s Legal and Governance branch, focusing on advising, drafting, negotiating, and amending complex contracts related to fleet, technology, construction, and goods and services.
Responsibilities
- Support the transition of the NSW bus fleet to electric buses.
- Advise on, draft, negotiate, and amend complex project and commercial contracts.
- Lead the drafting and negotiation of complex legal documents.
- Provide clear statutory and contractual interpretation.
- Represent the organisation in dispute resolution, court, and tribunal matters in line with the Model Litigant Policy.
Requirements
- A minimum of five years of relevant legal experience.
- An unrestricted practising certificate.
- Proven track record working on high-value, complex project and/or commercial contracts.
- Experience from within an in-house legal function of a large, complex organisation or in private practice providing strategic advice.
- Experience advising public sector/government clients.
- Ability to model the highest standards of integrity and professional conduct.
- Confidence in leading and supervising junior lawyers.
- Ability to act as a key point of contact for clients.
- Ability to step in for senior team members when required.
- Ability to communicate and influence effectively.
- Ability to inspire confidence in clients.
- Ability to lead and manage challenging negotiations.
- Ability to draft complex contracts.
