About the Role
The Toronto Western Hospital Movement Disorders Clinic is seeking a motivated clinical research professional with prior clinical trials experience to join their multidisciplinary research team. The successful candidate will administer and coordinate a variety of clinical trials under the direction of the Clinical Research Manager and Principal Investigators.
Responsibilities
- Recruiting study participants, including identifying, screening, and obtaining informed consent.
- Scheduling and coordinating complex patient visit schedules according to study protocols.
- Planning and executing all aspects of study visit schedules, including recording adverse events, concomitant medications, administering questionnaires, vital signs, kit prep, sample collection, assisting with lumbar punctures, sample processing, and shipping.
- Performing source documentation in UHN’s EMR (Epic) and collecting study data according to UHN policy, ICH-GCP guidelines, and study protocols.
- Executing trial-related administrative tasks, including submissions to the Research Ethics Board and regulatory agencies, preparing study materials, creating and maintaining investigator study files, completing study CRFs and logs, timely database entries, and collating regulatory documents.
- Liaising with CROs/sponsors, external stakeholders, and the clinical research team for monitoring visits and audits.
- Organizing and attending trial-related meetings.
- Contributing to protocol development.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree, or recognized equivalent, in a health or science-related discipline.
- Minimum three (3) years of clinical and/or professional experience.
- Experience in the coordination and administration of clinical trials.
- Experience with patient-facing contact and informed consent in a clinical setting.
- Experience with clinical trials in neurology and/or investigator-initiated trials preferred.
- Knowledge of research regulations such as ICH/GCP guidelines, Tri-Council policy (TCPS2), Declaration of Helsinki, Health Canada.
- Experience with research regulatory submissions (REB, Health Canada) strongly preferred.
- Knowledge of IATA shipping regulations and basic laboratory procedures.
- Transportation of Dangerous Goods certification preferred.
- Phlebotomy certification strongly preferred.
- Postgraduate certificate in clinical research an asset.
- Certification as a Clinical Research Professional (i.e. SOCRA, ACRP) an asset.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills with attention to detail.
