About the Role

For an 8-year-old student in Berlin-Pankow, we are seeking an empathetic and reliable school companion to support him on his path back to an increasingly independent school day. The student is autistic and has ADHD. His school attendance is currently reduced and will be gradually increased. We are looking for someone who can provide calm and security, observe attentively, build trust, and develop a good sense for when support is needed and when it is right to allow space for the child's next step.

Responsibilities

Enable the student's participation in school life and strengthen his independence long-term.
Support the student in safely arriving at school and in the classroom.
Help the student find orientation and structure in the school day.
Assist with managing transitions and changes.
Help the student cope with sensory overload and overwhelm.
Support the student in recognizing and expressing his own needs and boundaries.
Facilitate the student's return to school after stressful situations.
Aid in building social contacts and becoming part of the class community.
Gradually increase the student's school attendance.
Work in a resource-oriented manner, supporting where needed, strengthening existing abilities, and increasingly allowing for independence.

Requirements

Bring calm, patience, and reliability.
Be able to attune well to a child, be attentive to their signals, and remain calm and engaged even when a day doesn't go as planned.
Have experience with autism, ADHD, or neurodivergent children.
Have a respectful and patient approach to children.
Be able to perceive boundaries and overwhelm early on.
Be able to provide security without building unnecessary pressure.
Simultaneously trust development and promote independence.
Be available reliably from Monday to Thursday.
Have interest in long-term support.
Experience in supporting children with autism and/or ADHD is desirable.
Calm, empathetic, and reliable personality.
Good sense for overwhelm, individual boundaries, and support needs.
Ability to provide security and orientation without building pressure.
Enjoy building trust and patiently accompanying developmental steps.
Independent, responsible, and reliable way of working.
Willingness to cooperate closely with our specialist coordination and the school.
Availability Monday to Thursday for a total of 15 hours per week.
Willingness for long-term and continuous support.
Anticipated availability during school holidays.
