About the Role
The HSE Specialist will be a key member of the Property Management team, supporting JLL's Canadian operations in achieving Health, Safety, Security, and Environment (HSSE) goals. This role involves developing and improving HSE culture, identifying and controlling hazards, managing incident data, and supporting return-to-work programs.
Responsibilities
- Assist in the development and continuous improvement of HSE culture across property management teams.
- Support operations teams to identify, eliminate, and control hazardous conditions.
- Ensure accidents, injuries, environmental incidents, and near misses are captured, managed, and reported.
- Support the adoption and usage of JLL’s global accident & incident management system.
- Lead/support HSE investigations, analyze causal factors, and track corrective actions.
- Prepare communications to share lessons learned across operations.
- Support proactive return-to-work programs and ensure regulatory compliance.
- Assist in executing program roll-out strategies for environmental and H&S initiatives.
- Provide on-site support, audits, and inspections for environmental and H&S programs.
- Support JLL sites operations to meet and exceed regulatory requirements compliance.
- Support the development, implementation, and management of business-specific documentation related to the HSE management system.
- Support deployment and tracking of JLL employee training requirements.
- Participate in onboarding of new properties/team members and implement JLL HSE requirements.
- Review and analyze multi-sourced data to prepare status reports and presentations.
- Support continuous improvement of the environmental and H&S management system.
- Perform gap analysis and audits against legal and internal requirements.
- Identify improvement opportunities and track non-compliances to closure.
- Support HSSEQ Americas and Global teams in rolling out new compliance and best management practices programs.
- Support Operations and ESG teams to roll out relevant programs and support building certifications.
Requirements
- 5+ years of experience.
- Working knowledge of environmental, safety and occupational health regulations across Canada.
- Experience in managing and mitigating HSE risks related to operations.
- Rigorous, structured, and analytical mind.
- Ability to autonomously manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to extract and clearly communicate key messages to peers and operations teams.
- Creative problem-solving skills, global thinking, and ability to employ intelligent flexibility with pragmatic solutions.
