About the Role
Join Worldwide Flight Services and contribute to the safe and secure delivery of cargo shipments, luggage, and on-time flights. We are a leader in air cargo and passenger services, operating in 227 airport locations across 27 countries and 5 continents.
Responsibilities
- Move air cargo within designated warehouse.
- Load and unload cargo from pallets and containers.
- Build up cargo for outbound flights.
- Break down cargo from import flights.
- Facilitate the loading and unloading of cargo to and from semitrucks.
- Operate basic cargo handling equipment such as forklift, aircraft pallets and pallet jacks.
- Check freight for proper piece count, weight, dimensions and documents when accepting or delivering cargo.
- Transport cargo to and from aircraft driving a 3,000 lb. vehicle.
- Read "off-load" sheets to determine cargo destination.
- Engage in proper ground to cockpit communication via hand signals and voice commands.
- Understand and react to verbal commands and safety warnings.
- Perform routine cleaning of work areas, ramps, and facilities.
- Assist in monitoring security of facility.
- Comply with WFS site security procedures.
- Remain cognizant of staff, security contractors, and visitors’ activities and report security breaches or non-compliance.
Requirements
- HS Diploma, GED or Equivalent.
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- Valid driver's license.
- Must join the Transport Workers Union (TWU) and pay union dues.
Skills
- Ability to read, write, fluently speak and understand the English language.
- Ability to work rotating shifts including weekends, holidays, and days off.
- Ability to judge distances.
- Ability to successfully communicate with others.
